As the lead agency for Reinvest Birmingham, the City of Birmingham directs the initiative’s strategy, oversees federal grant compliance, and coordinates across all five components to ensure the program delivers on its commitment.

Birmingham City Schools
Birmingham City Schools serves more than 24,000 students across the city and is a foundational partner in building Birmingham’s future workforce pipeline. Through Reinvest Birmingham, the City of Birmingham and Birmingham City Schools are working together to strengthen career-connected opportunities, including targeted investments at P.D. Jackson-Olin High School that expand workforce readiness, expose students to high-demand industries, and create seamless pathways from the classroom to postsecondary education, training, and quality employment.

The Birmingham Promise
Birmingham Promise provides up to four years of tuition assistance for graduates of Birmingham City Schools to attend any public two- or four-year college or university in Alabama and manages a paid internship program connecting students to meaningful work-based learning opportunities. As a key Reinvest Birmingham partner, Birmingham Promise works alongside the City of Birmingham to strengthen the pathway from K-12 education to college and career by expanding access to paid internships and career-connected learning.

CRL Resources
CRL Resources supports Reinvest Birmingham by delivering workforce training and career readiness services that help residents gain the skills needed for in-demand jobs. Through hands-on support and community-focused programming. CRL helps connect local talent with opportunity in the construction industry.

Ed Farm
Launched in partnership with Apple and the Alabama Power Foundation, Ed Farm is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to equipping educators, students, and adult learners with the digital skills needed to thrive in today’s technology-driven economy. Through Reinvest Birmingham, Ed Farm partnered with the City of Birmingham to reimagine two classroom spaces within the North Birmingham Public Library, creating the NorthStar Learning Lab. The Learning Lab serves as a hub for technology-focused programming, including digital skills and coding boot camps, providing residents with hands-on opportunities to build in-demand digital competencies and prepare for high-growth careers.

¡HICA! (Hispanic and Immigrant Center of Alabama)
One of the most successful social impact organizations in Alabama, HICA has been a major catalyst for the empowerment and economic progress of the Latino community for over 20 years, serving 5,000+ residents annually with workforce, civic, and economic integration services.

Jones Valley Teaching Farm
A Birmingham-based nonprofit founded in 2002, Jones Valley Teaching Farm connects students and community members to food, farming, and the culinary arts through in-school and community programming, supporting workforce pathways in agriculture and food systems.

Lawson State Community College
Lawson State Community College is a lead partner for Reinvest Birmingham’s workforce component, providing residents with access to in-demand career programs across the service area. Through this key partnership, residents can pursue industry-recognized credentials and job-ready skills without needing a four-year degree.

Manufacture Good
Manufacture Good exists to train, equip, and invest in young men in the Birmingham community through paid three-month apprenticeships, teaching leadership, technical and soft skills, and providing the work ethic necessary for success in any field. Specifically, they provide training in the craft and manufacturing industry, including handcraft furniture and goods for residential and commercial needs.

STRIVE Birmingham
STRIVE provides training focused on construction and logistics for Reinvest Birmingham, and wraparound support for adults facing barriers to employment, including justice-involved individuals and those transitioning from public assistance.

Childcare Resources
A Birmingham-based nonprofit and United Way of Central Alabama partner agency, Childcare Resources provides early education opportunities and quality care programs that help break the cycle of poverty for multiple generations. The organization trains childcare providers and offers direct financial assistance to working families.

Women’s Foundation of Alabama
Women’s Foundation of Alabama addresses the childcare gap in Alabama through its Advancing Alabama Childcare Accelerator, an 8-week program focused on the business side of owning a daycare facility. Open to new and existing providers — including home-based centers — the program helps participants offer accessible, quality services for parents and competitive wages for workers.

The YMCA of Greater Birmingham
A long-standing Reinvest Birmingham coalition partner and the lead partner for the Childcare Center of Excellence, the YMCA of Greater Birmingham works alongside Women’s Foundation of Alabama and Childcare Resources to deliver best-in-class childcare that prioritizes accessibility and equity. Through this partnership, the Y bridges the gap between quality childcare and workforce participation, ensuring that families in the target communities have the support they need to engage in training and employment opportunities.

Entrepreneurship Center for Growth and Excellence (EC)
As the lead component partner for Reinvest Birmingham’s entrepreneurship efforts, the EC serves as the primary hub for small business support in the target communities. Formally launched with funding from Reinvest Birmingham, Regions Bank, Kresge Foundation, Mastercard, and Prosper Birmingham, the EC combines real-world data and hands-on experience to drive small-business growth across Birmingham — connecting local entrepreneurs to advisors, resources, and the broader business support ecosystem.

A nonprofit founded in 2021 with a vision to build the most inclusive and thriving economy in the Southeast, Prosper aligns Birmingham and Jefferson County around inclusive job creation, job preparation, and job access goals and strategies.

MAX Transit (BJCTA)
As the lead component partner for Reinvest Birmingham’s Connecting People to Good Jobs transportation initiative, the Birmingham-Jefferson County Transit Authority operates fixed bus routes, paratransit services, and microtransit options across Birmingham and surrounding areas. BJCTA is driving Reinvest Birmingham’s effort to expand mobility options, increase service frequency, and remove transportation barriers so residents can more easily reach training programs and employment opportunities.
