City of Birmingham, in Partnership with the Community Funding Accelerator, Launches Strategy for Reinvest Birmingham’s $20 Million Grant

In September 2025, the City of Birmingham and the Community Funding Accelerator brought together 30 employer and community partners spanning K-12 education, community colleges, workforce training, transportation, entrepreneurship, and childcare to release the official Workforce Strategy behind Reinvest Birmingham’s $20.2 million grant. The City aims to engage 5,000 residents across North Birmingham, Northside, Pratt, and Smithfield through information sessions and job fairs, enroll more than 3,000 of them in Career Pathway Training, and ultimately create 1,500 new jobs. Built with labor market data from Lightcast, the strategy maps where the real job opportunities are, construction, advanced manufacturing, childcare, and healthcare, and sets the direction for the initiative’s next four years. Archie Stewart, Reinvest Plan Officer, credited CFA’s research and coalition-building for helping Birmingham win the grant, calling their standard of care and intentionality the foundation the whole initiative rests on.
