Childcare and transportation support are built into Reinvest Birmingham’s job training programs. Here’s what’s available and how to access it.
A great training program doesn’t matter if you can’t get to it, and a great job doesn’t matter if you have nowhere for your children to go while you work. Reinvest Birmingham was built around these realities.
Getting to training and work
Reinvest Birmingham works with MAX Transit (BJCTA) to expand mobility options across the North Birmingham, Northside, Pratt, and Smithfield communities, including fixed bus routes, paratransit, and microtransit. The goal is more frequent service and shorter travel times to training sites and job locations, so a broken-down commute doesn’t cost you a class or a shift.
If transportation has kept you from starting or finishing a training program in the past, tell our team when you connect with us. Part of what we do is help match eligible residents with the transit options already available and flag where new ones are coming.
Childcare while you train or work
Reinvest Birmingham is building a new Early Learning Center that will serve about 100 children, and it’s working alongside partners like the YMCA of Greater Birmingham, Childcare Resources, and the Women’s Foundation of Alabama to grow childcare capacity across the service area. That includes support for both parents who need care and childcare providers who want to expand or improve what they offer.
